Beevis 100 miles of pain
I used to run the Norwich Half Marathon each year, often for charity, but after wearing away the cartilage in my left knee I was suddenly left with very few sports that I could still take part in. Exercise has always been a massive thing in my life, so when I decided to take up cycling in 2018 I thought I might try doing it to raise money for a good cause.Donate to this page
What I’m doing:
In June I will be attempting to complete the National Road Championships course of 100 miles: https://gbcyclingfestival.co.uk.
I have started my training using a spin bike at home in the mornings, most days. This involves getting up at 6am and cycling for 30 minutes, then gradually upping the distance. In the months leading up to the event I will start combining this with road training to get more miles in the legs.
Why I’m fundraising:
We all know someone who has suffered from cancer. I have first hand experience of this through both my mum and my wife, these two amazing people have both been through so much by beating the disease and getting on with living their lives. They make me so proud on a daily basis but they couldn't have done it without help from lots of different people.
The Big C is a great cancer charity working throughout Norfolk and Waveney. Their mission is dedicated to the fight against cancer and its effect on the individual and the family. They promote partnerships between the statutory, private and voluntary sectors, to develop first class cancer research and services. If you could give anything then this will be much appreciated.
