Big C Battleship
I moved to the Waveney valley in October last year to retire after 50 years of visiting the Broads. To try and improve my credentials as a local I intend to explore the whole of the Norfolk Broads (approx. 125 miles of navigable waterways) in my restored former River Inspectors launch Chet. Whilst this would have been very enjoyable for me, I felt I was missing an opportunity to do something more so I am turning this into a charity fundraising trip. The charity was formed in 1980 which was the same year my own father died of cancer aged 56 He was also a great lover of the Broads. I have known several friends in recent years who have fought the battle with cancer and some who have lost the fight.Donate to this page
What I’m doing:
My aim is to cover the whole of the navigable Norfolk Broads in my boat M.L.Chet during the summer months, July/Aug this year. I intend to call at pubs, boatyards, sailing clubs and moorings along the way to collect cash in buckets and publicise the giving page and this charity. All the fuel costs, overnight stays and transport will be covered by me. I would be happy to take cancer patients including children with parents/carers on board for some legs of the trip for a few hours of rest and relaxation.
Why I’m fundraising:
This is my way of giving something back for all the years I have enjoyed in boats on the Broads.
Big C is Norfolk's own cancer charity and funds research to find a cure.
