Danny’s Great North Run Fund Raiser
Having been a decent runner in my youth I’ve had many attempts to get back into it throughout my adult life. The last successful one was just before I was 40 I completed the London marathon but as usual didn’t keep it up. This year I’m hitting 50 and it feels like now or never. Around 3 years ago when my Dad was terminally ill while we were talking about me trying to get fit again he suggested entering the Great North Run (I think it had been on telly that day and my dads family being from the north east it seemed to appeal to him)! I entered the ballot at that time but didn’t get a place and it all fell by the wayside again until the early part of this year visiting my mum it came up in conversation and I applied for a place again - this time successfully!Donate to this page
What I’m doing:
The Great North Run (Half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields)
Why I’m fundraising:
This specific half marathon because of my dads connections to the North East and it’s in the week I hit 50. More generally to get fit again and lose weight before it’s too late and to raise funds for the Big C Centre who did a lot for my Dad in the year between being diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer until he passed away in February 2016.
