Great North Run for the Big C
In response to my sedentary lifestyle, my wife kindly signed me up to take part in the Great North Run. I happily agreed, believing that my chances of obtaining a ballot place were similar to those of winning the lottery. As luck would have it, I didn't win the lottery but I was awarded a ballot place in the 2019 SimplyHealth Great North Run. I am hoping to raise some funds for The Big C.
Our family has been greatly affected by cancer and at the time my place was announced in early 2019, my mother in law (Stevie Bennett) had been fighting breast cancer for the past 3 years. She sadly passed away on the 20th July 2019, and leaves a large void in our family.
The Big C is a Norfolk based cancer charity, which provided support to my mother in law whilst she was obtaining treatment for cancer.Donate to this page
What I’m doing:
Running 13.1 miles around Newcastle and South Shields (i.e. hopefully completing the Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019)
Why I’m fundraising:
To provide a small contribution to the Big C, so that they can continue to support people like my mother in law who are suffering from cancer in Norfolk and the Waveney area.
