Tom Allen Big C Fundraiser
It's been a while since I did a sponsored event, the last was London to Paris in 2012 when my friend Ryan and I raised money for Action Medical Research.
Having got back into cycling after a long break, I thought I'd have another go at raising money to help those locally affected by cancer.Donate to this page
What I’m doing:
This year, along with a couple of friends I'm taking part in the Great British Cycling Festival. This involves a 100 mile ride in Norfolk in June - you can check out the event here... https://gbcyclingfestival.co.uk/
Training started in January; I'm trying to get back to the performance level I had in 2012. So there are a lot of miles to get in between now and then to achieve this. Your sponsorship will be a great motivator. Thanks in advance! (PS. I'll be doing the traditional Norwich 100 as a warm up 3 weeks before!)
Why I’m fundraising:
I wanted to raise funds for Big C, as they are a great local charity improving the lives of people affected by cancer in Norfolk and Waveney. It seems like we all know someone directly or indirectly affected by cancer.
Big C funds four drop in support and information centres across Norfolk and Waveney that are used by thousands of people every year affected by cancer. The centres in Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, King’s Lynn and Norwich provide valuable information about diagnosis, treatments, side effects and recovery. Trained staff are also there to provide emotional help, support and complementary therapies.
Their mission is dedicated to the fight against cancer and its effect on the individual and the family. They promote partnerships between the statutory, private and voluntary sectors, to develop first class cancer research and services.
