Victoria is an Iron Lady, Rachael’s trying to be one in a different way!
Last January (2020) my twin sister Victoria Egan had a shock diagnosis of aggressive breast cancer.
Now a year on her cancer journey is pretty much behind her.
The Big C provided her with lots of support so I’d be grateful if you can sponsor me to raise money for them to return the favour.
What I’m doing:
I have decided to take on a very difficult challenge myself and attempt a half Iron Man.... 1.2 miles of lake swimming, a 56 mile cycle and a 13 mile run.
It’s not going to be easy in any way.. a swim-up bar and cycling to a country pub are my preferances.....but when you remember how hard a year Victoria and other cancer sufferers have had, it is my attempt to push myself to my limits and have the strength of character to do so; something all cancer patients have had to endure. I am very determined and training hard but I may not make it in the allotted time!
Why I’m fundraising:
My twin sister Victoria Egan had a shock diagnosis of triple negative aggressive breast cancer & having treatment during a global pandemic added extra worry.
The six chemo sessions and recovery periods were a challenge but Victoria remained very positive throughout. Next at the end of June was the operation and reconstruction. She sailed through this with determination and strength of character. The last leg was daily radiotherapy in September, taking place over 3 weeks.
Now a year on she has healed and her cancer journey is pretty much behind her. She was an inspiration to us all. Especially so pushing herself to keep fit throughout, against lots of knock backs to her immune system, being so tired she couldn't get out of a chair or climb the stairs without being on all fours.
Having received lots of support, I’d like to give back, so I’d be grateful if you can sponsor me to raise money for the Big C.
Please donate anything you can. No pressure to pledge lots even a couple of pounds mounts up and benefits those diagnosed with cancer.
