Charity Ploughing Event Raises £3,400 for Big C

Sunday 10th October 2021 saw the return of the Tracks Charity Ploughing event. Like many other events, it was forced to take a break in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic but the annual event returned last month and was a huge success, raising an incredible £3,460.43 for Big C.

Tom Holmes, Events & Engagement Manager at Big, said: ‘We’re absolutely thrilled that Sally and Neville were able to put the event on again this year and raise further funds for Big C. They’ve been supporting the charity for such a long time, we’re really grateful for all their hard work and looking forward to next year’s plough day.’

The annual ploughing day which was started by Sally and Neville Websdale has now been running for 14 years and has raised a total of over £25k to help improve the lives of those affected by cancer. The unique event focuses solely on track and steel wheeled horticultural vehicles and takes place on the second Sunday in October each year. The event is free for all to attend with the money raised solely through stalls, donations and a raffle held on the day.

Tracks Charity Ploughing organiser, Sally, said: ‘We started doing the event because most plough events don’t allow crawlers, so this is an opportunity for Neville to showcase his collection. We chose to support Big C as we have sadly experienced personal loss of family and friends due to cancer and wanted to support a great cause. Almost every family is affected by cancer in some way’. We don’t put on the event all alone though, we have a lot of help from friends and land owners to put the event on each year.’

Next year’s event will take place on Sunday 9th October 2022.
